Job interview ending with a handshake

Good candidates rarely stay on the market for long. A slow or unclear process is one of the most common reasons companies lose them. Here is how to speed up without lowering your standards.

Write a clear role brief

Agree on the must-have skills, the nice-to-haves and what success looks like in the first six months. A vague brief leads to a long search and mismatched interviews.

Decide who is involved and when

Name the people who will interview and the decision maker before you start. Book interview slots in advance so candidates are not waiting on calendars.

Use structured interviews

Ask every candidate the same core questions and score them against the same criteria. This is quicker to compare and fairer than free-form conversations.

Keep the process short and respectful

Limit the number of rounds, keep take-home tasks reasonable and reply promptly, even when the answer is no. Candidates remember how they were treated.

Get help when the pipeline is thin

If you do not have the time or reach to find candidates, a recruitment partner can screen and shortlist for you so your team only meets people who fit.
